Follow up Letter from Village President Hettermann - NonHighway Vehicles

Dear Johnsburg Residents and Business Owners,

In follow up to the information included in my letter last week regarding non-highway vehicle travel, it has come to my attention that several non-highway vehicle owners are traveling, unauthorized, across private property to get to the BP gas station on Chapel Hill Road. The business owners adjacent to the gas station have asked for the Village’s assistance in notifying the community that non-highway vehicle travel across their property is not permitted. Signage is being placed in the area indicating that the activity is prohibited. As I previously stated, the use of non-highway vehicles is a privilege so please operate them in a responsible manner and do not travel on property not officially designated for non-highway vehicle travel.

Additionally, repairs to the Shiloh Subdivision - Ernest Lane access opening has been restored this week and additional improvements will soon follow. However, please be advised that Johnsburg Community School District 12 will begin resurfacing portions of their parking lot proposed to begin tomorrow, June 20th (weather permitting) at JJHS and JES. During construction hours please expect dirt, dust and noise from the construction operations. Minor inconveniences may be experienced, please adhere to the signage. It should be noted that it’s possible the designated path may be temporarily closed during the course of the resurfacing project, thus requesting to temporarily avoid said designated path “E” (Ernest Lane to Church St & Fairview Ave). Further communication will follow on weekly eBlast message, but if allowed to continue use, please proceed cautiously when traveling through the construction zone.

Respectfully,
Edwin P. Hettermann
Village President
