Johnsburg Lions Club Wreath Sale
Johnsburg Lions Club thanks all those who donated through the purchase of a holiday wreath this year. Wreath pickup is scheduled for Saturday, November 30, 2024 from 10:00a.m. to 2:00p.m. at Val-Mar Center (4000 N Johnsburg Rd). All proceeds raised go to aide those in our Community.
Alternatives to Landscape Waste Accumulation
There are other alternatives to burning your landscape materials. For more information, click here. The Health Department encourages more environmentally sound alternatives to burning of landscape waste and recommends composting, mulching and native landscaping as possible alternatives to reduce/reuse landscape waste, click here for further information. The Village's residential refuse and recycling service includes the removal of up to 8 bags or cans of landscape waste per week. For more information visit LRS - Johnsburg.
Open Burning of Landscape Waste
Landscape waste may be burned on Saturdays and Sundays from dawn through dusk during Fall months of October and November. The burning of landscape waste is permitted only when winds are less than 10 mph. The burning site must be a minimum of 100’ from any principal structure and supervised at all times by an individual at least 18 years of age. A fire extinguisher, garden hose or water source must be available at the burning site. Prohibited at all times is the burning of manure, garbage, construction materials, litter, grass clippings (eff. 10/5/2021) and etc...on any property. We have seen and received multiple complaints of residents not complying with the ordinance, please be advised violators will be cited. Recreational fires and ceremonial fires are exempt but may not be larger than 3’x3’x3’ and cannot contain leaves, grass or shrubbery clippings. Click here for the requirements.

Holiday Magic 2024 – Mark your Calendars & Save the Date
The Holiday Magic Parade look ahead and developing further. The event, being held on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at 5:30 p.m. will be traveling a new route. Click here for parade route details. Residents wishing to participate in the parade must register their vehicle, float or non-highway vehicle with the Village by December 6, 2024. ALL ENTRIES MUST BE REGISTERED IN ADVANCE. Entries not registered will not be permitted to participate in the parade. The total number of entries is needed in advance to ensure that provisions for adequate staging are made. All entries must be decorated in a holiday theme or with holiday lights. Alcohol is prohibited in the staging area and through the parade route and no candy or freebies can be thrown along the parade due to limited visibility. Public Works Projects
As you know, Illinois has two seasons - Winter and Construction Season. We are pushing to complete the following projects below for substantial completion or full scope completions before snow fly’s. Brief summary of construction projects itemized below. As the projects proceed, be prepared for delays and seek alternative routes whenever necessary.
- Sewer River Extension - Ongoing 88% completion, projected schedule for substantial completion Dec. 2024. Base course patching completed, Final surface patching being scheduled and ongoing restoration of surrounding.
- Understanding the Force Main Sewer is phase 1 to support future proposals projected and gravity connections that are next phases, with pending developments and connections. Repairs will be complete to better than previous conditions, but the public access of Linden Ave is a private road and not accepted to public road standards, until such time, the Sewer Extension Lift Station and surrounding will be patched and made accessible for public access.
- Sunnyside Beach Dr Road Improvement – The Village approved Ordinance 24-25-09 accepting the Roadway Commonly Known as Sunnyside Beach Drive in the Village of Johnsburg.
- The proposed gate install at the 1300 Block of Sunnyside Beach Dr will begin next week; with concrete footings for posts and panels closing off access. The decorative 12’ wide gate limiting access to N. Riverview will follow in the following weeks.
Note that timelines related to all projects are weather permitting and subject to change. Watch for eBlasts for project impacts and scheduling changes. Please pay close attention to flaggers and construction signage, obey posted speed limits, and proceed cautiously while traveling in and around the work zones.
