eBlast - JBPD Press Release "Senior Assassin" Alert

Johnsburg Police DepartmentPress Release "Senior Assassin" Alert
It is the mission of the Johnsburg Police Department to safeguard the lives and property of the people we serve, to reduce incidence and fear of crime through proactive law enforcement and public education. To execute this mission, the Johnsburg Police Department would like to address our concerns with the community regarding the popular game played amongst High School Seniors being "Senior Assassin". In the month of April, the Johnsburg Police Department have responded to calls for service made by concerned citizens regarding suspicious circumstances. One such circumstance, involved a report of suspicious subjects walking through the backyard of a home while one subject was observed carrying an unknown object in the same manner one would carry a firearm. Police Officers responded, and through investigation, determined that the suspicious subjects were participating in the game Senior Assassin. The aforementioned unknown object would be identified as a plastic "Orbeez" pistol that resembled the size and shape of a real "1911" type pistol. We are aware this game, commonly known as Senior Assassin, is played nationwide. Unfortunately, in some events, participants of the game, when encountered by the unknowing general public, have been met with tragic results.

Participants engaged in playing Senior Assassin should always remember to respect the laws of the State of Illinois as well as The Village of Johnsburg’ local ordinances. Specifically, "Disorderly Conduct" (720 ILCS 5/26-1) and Criminal Trespass to Real Property (720 ILCS 5/21-3). As always the Johnsburg Police Department is here to serve the community, and are available to answer any questions you may have concerning this matter or any other matter (Non-Emergency 815-385-6024) or email.
