Johnsburg Lions Club 6th Annual NonHighway Vehicle Cruise for Charity - Tomorrow
The Johnsburg Lions Club is hosting the 6th Annual NonHighway Vehicle Cruise for Charity Tomorrow, August 24, 2024 at Sunnyside Tavern (4206 N Johnsburg Rd). Golf carts / UTV must be registered, permitted vehicles. The Johnsburg Lions Club will be selling 50/50 raffle tickets and 50/50 drawing will take place at the end, Sunnyside Tavern. Saufen und Spiel 2024
The Johnsburg Community Club, Inc, the Johnsburg Community Men’s Club and the Johnsburg Lions Club present Saufen und Spiel 2024! Starting Friday evening, September 6th thru Sunday, September 8th, Johnsburg is the place to be for food, music, games and good old fashion fun! A treasured tradition for many years, the weekend honors Johnsburg's German heritage and proudly displays the spirit of our hometown. Featured events include the Black Light Bean Bag Tournament on Friday night with Fireworks, Banjo Beer Night on Saturday night, the Parade on Sunday afternoon and Cow Drop Raffle. Electronic Waste Recycling & Brush Drop Off
The McHenry Township Road District is again partnering with the Environmental Defenders of McHenry County to offer recycling programs for McHenry Township residents. Your next opportunity to recycle is Saturday, September 21, 2024 from 8:00a.m. to 12:00 p.m. There will be NO drop off of recycling items during the week. Celebration in the Park (CITP) 2024 - Mark your Calendars and Save the Date
The Village of Johnsburg and the Johnsburg Community Affairs Committee are busying making arrangements for this year’s Celebration in the Park event. If you are not familiar with this celebration you are missing one of Johnsburg’s most popular events, enjoyed by all ages! Invite your family, friends and neighbors for a fun filled evening with live music from The Thompson Duo, delicious food and cold beverages. There will also be games with prizes and FIREWORKS! This is truly a community celebration! This year’s Celebration in the Park event will take place on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at Hiller Park (5500 Skyhawk Lane, Johnsburg, IL 60051) beginning at 5:00 p.m. We are very grateful to all of the generous contributors who make this event possible. Donations, in any amount, from individuals, groups or businesses are needed and would be greatly appreciated. Additionally, we still need community volunteers to ensure a safe and organized kid play area with game supervisors.
Open Burning of Landscape Waste - (Not Permitted)
Open Burning of Landscape Waste is not permitted at this time. Violators will be fined. The Village's residential refuse and recycling service includes the removal of up to 8 bags or cans of landscape waste per week. For more information visit LRS - Johnsburg.
Alternatives to Landscape Waste Accumulation
There are other alternatives to burning your landscape materials. For more information, click here. The Health Department encourages more environmentally sound alternatives to burning of landscape waste and recommends composting, mulching and native landscaping as possible alternatives to reduce/reuse landscape waste, click here for further information. Boat Launch & Voluntarily Vehicle Stickers
Boat launch stickers are available at the David G. Dominguez Municipal Center. Anyone wishing to use the Village’s boat launch on Riverview Drive (Alfred May Park & Boat Launch) is REQUIRED to purchase a sticker and display it on the vehicle used to launch the boat. The sticker cost for Village residents is prorated (2nd year) $10 and non-residents may purchase a sticker for prorated (2nd year) $50. Launching is NOT RECOMMENDED for boats greater than 24 feet. Although the Village no longer requires the use of vehicle stickers, we do have them available for residents who wish to display one. McHenry Township Fire Protection District - Life Jacket Loaner Program
MTFPD, in partnership with BoatUS Foundation, loans life jackets for a day or weekend. Fill out the form, or stop by the station at 3610 W. Elm Street, McHenry. Look for the entrance with the "Borrow Life Jackets Here" poster. Click here for further information. Consumer Confidence Reports (CCR)
The annual Consumer Confidence Report includes basic information on the source(s) of your drinking water, the levels of any contaminants that were detected in the water during that calendar year, and compliance with other drinking water rules, as well as some educational materials. McHenry County Division of Transportation
McHenry County has now expanded its transportation options for eligible McHenry County residents. MCRide Connect is a new on-demand, user-side subsidy program using transportation network (commonly known as rideshare) companies, like Uber and UZURV, to provide a new affordable transportation option for eligible residents in McHenry County. 2024 Public Works Projects
As you know, Illinois has two seasons - Winter and Construction Season. Along with the warmer weather comes the inconveniences that occur with road construction. To help you prepare, below is a summary of construction projects that will be taking place in Johnsburg. As the projects proceed, be prepared for delays and seek alternative routes whenever necessary.

- Linden Ave. road will be CLOSED between N. Chapel Hill Road and River Terrace Drive Road
- Road Closure anticipated Monday, August 26, 2024 (weather permitting). The attached exhibit indicates the Phase-1 traffic control to facilitate installation of steel casing under N. Chapel Hill Road. During the work, Linden Ave. will be closed between N. Chapel Hill Road and River Terrace Drive. Work is proposed to start Monday, August 26th and anticipated to take 1 week. During the Linden Avenue closure, River Terrace Drive and Linden Avenue traffic will be detoured to N. Chapel Hill Road via Weingart Road and Bay Road. Access from N. Chapel Hill Road to the business located at 3312 N. Chapel Hill Road will be maintained during the road closure. Residents will continue to have access to their homes, we request patience and apologize for any inconvenience.

Please pay close attention to flaggers and construction signage, obey posted speed limits, and proceed cautiously while traveling in and around the work zones.
Fall Brush Pick-Up – Mark your Calendars
The Village's Fall Brush Pick-Up will begin Monday, September 30, 2024 at 7:00 a.m. All brush must be placed by the road no later than 7:00a.m. on said Monday (09/30/2024) by 7:00 a.m. and no earlier than Saturday September 21, 2024. Crews will make one pass through each subdivision; therefore, any branches that are not placed by the road when they go by will not be picked up at a later time. All branches must be a minimum of six (6) feet in length (longer limbs travel safely through chipper) and no greater than 6 inches in diameter. They must be placed with their cut ends pointed towards the road in a neat, orderly and manageable pile. Please stack brush into multiple manageable piles (example); avoid making one massive unmanageable large pile. Branches that cannot be put through the chipper safely will not be taken. Evergreen cuttings must be kept separate from other tree branches and will be picked up separately. This service is being provided for larger branches generated from trimming, pruning or storm damage and is not intended for disposal of whole trees or limbs/branches from tree removal that have been removed. Each resident collection is allotted twenty (20) minutes max, please aid in the collection process. Please follow the guidelines or contact Village Hall (815) 385-6023 with any questions.
