Come to Johnsburg’s Annual Saufen und Spiel Events, 2022!
Looking for something fun to do in September? Come out and celebrate Johnsburg’s German Heritage during the annual Saufen und Spiel weekend September 9th through the 11th underwritten by Ray Auto Group of Fox Lake! The festivities kick off on Friday evening, September 9th with the Johnsburg Community Men’s Club’s Annual Black Light Bean Bag Tournament. Registration begins at 5:00PM at a cost of $15.00 per person. The tournament starts at 7:00PM and includes live music by Dollar Giraffes, great food and beverages.
The Johnsburg Lions Club takes over on Saturday, September 10th beginning at 5:00 p.m. with Banjo Beer Night. Come out and get to know the Johnsburg community while enjoying live music by Banjo Buddies, Justin Wallace and LP Vinyl. Bring your appetite as there is always plenty of burgers, brats, and hot dogs. The event includes a raffle and some frosty beverages to beat the heat.
On Sunday, Sept. 11th the 51st Annual Saufen und Spiel Parade will start at 12:00PM at the David G. Dominguez Municipal Center. Find yourself a great spot along the parade route to enjoy all the various entries. Then head over to the Johnsburg Community Club to enjoy live music, a variety of food and beverages from area restaurateurs and local organizations, and games for kids of all ages. Make sure to participate in the famous Cow Drop Raffle and enjoy the Glockenspiel performance in tribute to Johnsburg’s German heritage.
Saufen und Spiel is for people of all ages – bring your family and friends for a memorable weekend!
Register for the Saufen und Spiel Parade
To register for a parade spot, please make a check payable to Johnsburg Community Club (JCMC) for $30 and return it with your completed parade entry form. Children under the age of 18 will require a signed parental permission slip if they’re planning to participate in the parade.
When lining up for the parade, please head east on Lakeview by the Mobil, then south on Riverview Dr. to Channel Beach Ave.
To ensure that everyone is in their correct spots for the parade, participants must be dropped off at the David G. Dominguez Municipal Center by 11:30AM at the latest.
