Let's end 2021 on a brilliantly bright note with a fabulously fun and fantastically festive holiday lights throw-down! Tens of thousands of lights at Lankford Construction home office. Garbage & Recycling Service NOT Delayed – Pickup beginning at 6:00a.m.
Due to holiday scheduling falling on Saturday’s (Christmas Day and New Year’s Day) garbage & recycling services will NOT be delayed. Residential garbage and recycling pickup will occur on normal subdivision area days for the next two (2) weeks. However, due to supporting operations with Transfer Stations and Landfills, residential pickup will begin as early as 6:00a.m. the day of customary collection. We encourage residents to place residential garbage and recycling out the night prior in accordance with Municipal Code Chapter 17. Non-Highway Vehicles - Permitted Golf Carts and UTVs
Effective January 1, 2022, license plates are required for all non-highway vehicles and a fee of $75.00 (vanity) or $60.00 (automatic numerical issue) shall be assessed for all new and renewal registrations. Beginning immediately, new forms have been developed and a mass plate order production is scheduled. We are requesting you complete the following forms and turn them into Village Hall no later than Friday, January 7, 2021 with payment. Once the plates are received, all permitted Non-Highway Vehicles will undergo an inspection and be issued a plate of your choice being either vanity or automatic numerical. Please be advised, vanity plates are first come first serve. Click here for further information.

Open burning of Landscape Waste - Prohibited
Keep in mind that the burning of landscape waste is not permitted at this time. Landscape waste can only be burned on Saturdays and Sundays during the months of April, May, October and November provided that setbacks and other requirements can be met. Recreational fires and ceremonial fires are exempt but may not be larger than 3’x3’x3’ and cannot contain leaves, grass or shrubbery clippings. Click here for the requirements.

Alternatives to Landscape Waste Accumulation
There are other alternatives to burning your landscape materials. For more information, click here. The Health Department encourages more environmentally sound alternatives to burning of landscape waste and recommends composting, mulching and native landscaping as possible alternatives to reduce/reuse landscape waste, click here for further information.

Meadowland Church Christmas Eve outdoor candlelight gathering
You are invited to Meadowland Church Christmas Eve candlelight gathering to be held outdoors at Rescue Squad Park in Johnsburg on Friday, December 24th at 8:00p.m. rain, snow, or shine.  There will be heaters and hot chocolate to help keep warm as we gather under the pavilion for a time of singing Christmas carols and hearing the Christmas story. Invite your family and neighbors to bundle up and join you for a special night together. Parking is available at Rescue Squad Park and at the Johnsburg Community Club at 2315 W. Church St., Johnsburg, IL.

The Lake House on Pistakee
The Lake House on Pistakee is offering their Lake House Take & Bake. They ask for 24 hours notice for pickup. Orders are taken online or there is also a link on their website and social media account. Click here for further information.

Johnsburg Boys Baseball League (JBBL)
Start your Baseball Adventure with the JBBL! Spring Ball Signup is now through Monday, February 28, 2022. Early Registration now through January 5th, receive a $20 discount. Registration will close February 28th (Late registration w/fees from March 1-15th). Draft tentatively scheduled for March 21st, practices typically start after spring break. Click here for further information.

Johnsburg Pigtail League (JPL)
Registration is open for Johnsburg Pigtail League. An early registration discount of $20 dollars is offered through the end of December, to register and use code 1231 at check out. Registration will run through March 6, 2022. Many will be decking the halls to celebrate this holiday season. Low Income, Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) and Percentage of Income Payment Plan (PIPP)
Energy efficiency and emergency assistance tips to help you save money and energy. With the start of fall and cooler nights, you will soon be noticing higher heating bills. From Now through May, income-eligible residents can apply for Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) funds, if you are having trouble paying for heating costs. For information on more energy-saving or energy assistance programs, click here.

Department of Public Health Issues Updated Holiday Season Guidance
As we head into the holiday season, the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) is issuing updated guidance to help people celebrate more safely as we continue to battle the COVID-19 pandemic. Click here for further information.

Driver’s License and ID Card Extends to Expiration Dates until March 31, 2022
Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White announced that expiration dates for driver’s licenses and ID cards have been extended an additional three months – from Jan. 1, 2022, to March 31, 2022. This extension does not apply to commercial driver’s licenses (CDL) and CDL learner’s permits. This will be the final extension, click here for further.

ComEd – Snow Reminder
This seems like an unusual early message to receive in the fall, but ComEd is already planning ahead for the winter months. Reminding you may have ComEd transformers and/or switchgear on your property that may need to be accessed in the winter. Occasionally after a snowstorm, snow removal efforts will result in buried or blocked access to critical ComEd equipment. In order to be able to safely access their equipment if necessary, they need to ensure that there is at least ten feet of open space in front of the equipment’s cabinet doors. Additionally, they need a foot of clearance on the remaining three sides of the equipment. Click here for further.
