WELCOME TO JOHNSBURG!
Take a moment and read a message from our Village President.

JOHNSBURG TODAY
Today, Johnsburg consists of approximately 7000 residents. Johnsburg School District #12 consisting of Ringwood School (Pre-K through 2nd grade), James C. Bush Elementary School (3rd and 4th grade), Johnsburg Jr. High School (5th through 8th grade) and Johnsburg High School (9th through 12th grade). See our Education page for more information. Additions were done to all of the schools in the last decade to accommodate the growing needs of the community.

Johnsburg has made significant improvements to three major park facilities which provide ball fields, soccer fields, walking paths, picnic areas and playground equipment to the community. The community has many sports activities that kids can enjoy such as: Johnsburg Boys Baseball League, Johnsburg Pigtail league, White Lightning Soccer, and J-Hawks football league. Having the most water front of any community along the Chain of Lakes, Johnsburg maintains a boat launch facility at which Village residents can launch their boats and other water crafts at no cost. The Village’s first wastewater treatment facility has been completed and serves nearly 1000 existing residences and businesses and also provides for service for the commercial growth on the Route 31 corridor area.

FORM OF GOVERNMENT
The Village of Johnsburg operates under a President and Board of Trustees form of government. It is the purpose of the Village Officials to serve the needs of our residents. Village Board meetings are held on the first and third Thursday of every month at 7:30 p.m. in the Board Room of the Village Hall located at 1515 Channel Beach Avenue. There are 6 committees which have a trustee that oversees that committee, and there are 6 committee members who are stakeholders of the Village. See Village Board & Committees

All meeting are held at the Village Hall. Meetings may be cancelled or changed so please contact the Village Hall at 385-6023 to confirm. Also, please contact the Village Hall if you are interested in serving on a Committee.

VILLAGE HALL
The Village Hall is located at 1515 Channel Beach Avenue, Johnsburg, IL 60051. The office is open for business Monday-Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.
For your convenience , the Village Hall provides the following services:
• Water bill collection for Shiloh Ridge, Claremont Hills, Running Brook Farms, Remington Grove, Shops at Fox River and businesses located along Rt. 31 which are on the Village's water system only.
• Purchase of vehicle stickers and daily parking permits for parking at the boat launch.

• Building & zoning assistance.
• Questions regarding any village ordinances.
• Public Works provides infrastructure
• Police Department promotes public safety.

POLICE DEPARTMENT
The Johnsburg Police Department includes seventeen sworn police officers and one civilian employee. These personnel perform police protection patrol services, non-patrol and investigative functions, community services, parking enforcement, traffic safety, records functions and administrative services. In addition to basic police protection services, the Johnsburg Police Department offers a wide variety of community service/ programs some of which are as follows:

EMERGENCY AND FIRE PROTECTION
The Village of Johnsburg is covered for Emergency and Fire Protection through the McHenry Township Fire Protection District. They can be reached at 815-385-0075.

PUBLIC LIBRARY
The Johnsburg Public Library is located at 3000 N. Johnsburg Road. All residents who reside within the Johnsburg Library District are entitled to a free library card. Contact the Library at 344-0077 for further information during the following hours:8:30 a.m. - 9:00 p.m., Friday and Saturday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

PUBLIC WORKS
The Johnsburg Public Works Department is located at 3200 N. Richmond Rd. Office Hours for the Public Works Department are: Monday - Friday 7:00 a.m.- 3:30 p.m. The Public Works Department is responsible for the maintenance of all Village streets and right-of-ways; park maintenance; and water system maintenance. Residents are encouraged to call 815-385-6023 for general information or to report a problem that you would like to have reviewed.

All other subdivisions Call Utilities, Inc./Whispering Hills Water Co. at 800-831-2359 to set up for water.

REFUSE AND RECYCLING COLLECTION
The Village of Johnsburg has arranged for your refuse and recycling collection to be picked up by Waste Management. Recycling bins may be picked up at the Village Hall. Garbage & recycling pick up day is Friday. You are allowed one 35 gallon container of garbage (up to 50 lbs), unlimited recycling and one large item at no cost to you. You may rent a 96 gallon garbage container from Waste Management for $8.82 per month. You may also rent a 64 gallon recycling container for $9.08 per month. They will bill you directly for those containers. If you would like to rent one of their containers, you can call them at 800-796-9696. Stickers will also be available for $3.20 each and good for one additional 35 gallon can of garbage or one kraft bag of yard waste. If you need to have any appliances picked up, you can contact Environmental Services at 800-480-4337. Waste Management cannot pick up any appliances. ORDINANCES
Curfew Hours: The following curfew hours applies to persons under the age of 17, unless accompanied by a parent, guardian or other responsible adult, or engaged in some lawful business or occupation. 12:00 midnight Friday night until 6:00 am Saturday; 12:00 midnight Saturday night until 6:00 am Sunday; 11:00 pm until 6:00 am all other days of the week.

Vehicle Stickers: The Johnsburg Municipal Code requires all vehicles registered and/or kept in the Village for a period longer than 30 days to display a current vehicle sticker in the windshield of the vehicle. These vehicle stickers can be purchased at the Village Hall during normal business hours. New residents must purchase their sticker within thirty (30) days of arrival in the Village. Not purchasing the vehicle sticker in a timely manner, will result in the cost of the sticker doubling and/or a ticket for a local ordinance violation.

Animal Control: The Johnsburg Municipal Code adopts and incorporates the Animal Control Ordinance for the County of McHenry. This ordinance requires that all domestic, exotic or zoo animals be registered, vaccinated and leashed.

Building Codes: The Johnsburg Municipal Code adopts the 2006 International Residential and Building codes. Prior to making any changes to your home or property, stop in or call our building inspector.

Overnight Parking: There is NO OVERNIGHT PARKING on village streets between the hours of 2:00 am and 6:00 am. Please note the signs posted throughout the Village.

Burning of Yard Waste: On-site generated yard waste may be burned on weekends only in the months of April, May, October and November from dawn to dusk. Paper, cardboard and building materials cannot be burned. Burning must be at least 100 feet from any habital structure and at least 50 feet from any accessory structure.
